Exemptions for 3rd Country Visa

Passengers can enter with a multiple-entry visa issued by Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, USA or a Schengen Member State for a maximum of 180 days. The visa must be valid for the period of intended stay. - Visas issued by the USA with extended validity are not accepted. - Visas issued by the United Kingdom must be Standard Visitor Visa.

Exemptions for Residents

Passengers do not need a visa if they have one of the following documents issued by Mexico: - a residence permit; or - a Forma Migratoria de Inmigrado - FMI; or - a Documento Migratorio Del Inmigrante - FM2 (grey booklet). Expired residence permits are accepted if expired for a maximum of 55 days.

Exemptions for 3rd Country Residents

Passengers do not need a visa for a maximum of 180 days if they have: - a permanent residence permit issued by Canada, Chile, Colombia, Peru, United Kingdom or a Schengen Member State; or - a permanent residence permit or permanent re-entry permit issued by Japan; or - a Permanent Resident or Resident Alien Card (Form I-551) issued by USA. A valid I-551 stamp on their passport is also accepted. An expired Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551) with a Notice of Action (Form I-797) extending its validity is not accepted.

A valid visa issued by Mexico in an expired passport is accepted if the passenger also has a valid passport.

Additional Information

Visitors older than 12 years old traveling to Baja California Sur for more than 24 hours must pay a tourist tax of MXN 488,00. It can be paid online before departure at https://embrace.bcs.gob.mx/ or upon arrival. It is strongly advised to pay the tax before departure to ensure a smooth process at immigration.
